Halloween Injuries

Image
With Halloween right around the corner, I wanted to get a few more ideas that anyone can use for fun! This one is going to be the quickest and easiest! Any Halloween store or drug store will have these products and there is a good chance they will be on sale since it is so close. You can use any primer to prime your face before putting the face paints on there, but I used Maybelline's Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser. It helps for the paints to not stain the skin as much and for everything to stay in place, too. I purchase this set of paints at Spirit Halloween Store in my neck of the woods. They are called the Injury Stack Makeup with 5 cream pods to create bruises and cuts. The pods include a mustard yellow, deep red, bright red, maroon, and black. In the picture I had my flash on and the colors look a little different, but you can see on our faces how they perform. I started out by using the maroon color to map out where I wanted the deepest bruises to be, like around my ey

Glam Skull

Image
Excited doesn't even begin to describe how I feel about posting these pictures! There are a ton of products that I used to achieve this, but the main attraction is the Makeup Forever Flash Palette. This was my first time using it and it was so easy to put on the skin and blend with other colors and products that I think I may dedicate a post to reviewing it soon. The Glam Skull was inspired by Instagram user MakeupByCorr's post from a few days ago. I kept my colors a bit more on the pastel side with a glitter dust finish but her solid bold colors and using the Flash Palette are what grabbed my attention and inspired me to even attempt this look. So go check her out! Removing Body Paints

Image
The second thing that comes to mind during the Halloween season of amazing artistry on Instagram and Youtube is how the hell do they remove it all?! Well after dabbling in the world of body paints this past few weeks, I am going to show you the products I used to not only remove the paints and makeup from my face and body but also how to remove them from my brushes. This is a fairly simple process and depending on how soon you remove it, there should be minimal staining to the skin and brushes. Neutrogena takes the cake with makeup removers in my book. I used the regular makeup removing wipes to remove the most makeup possible before heading in the shower, for the Sugar Skull post I used about 3-4 wipes, but with the next skull post I have for you in the next few days, I used upwards of 7-10 wipes. This is a lot of wipes, but first off, Neutrogena is fairly inexpensive and there are store brands like Wal-Mart's store brand (pictured below) that will do this step pretty much the s

Kat Von D Studded Kiss Lipstick Swatches

Image
Kat Von D always puts out amazingly pigmented lipsticks that are long wearing and keep lips soft all day. They're not drying nor hydrating, so my lips actually allow me to keep it on all day with no issues. Below I have swatched the lipsticks that are included in Kat Von D's Mi Vida Loca Remix Studded Kiss Lip Set found at Sephora. Included in this pack are 8 lipsticks (1 full size and 7 trial sizes). The color names are listed below in order from top to bottom! 1. NaYeon 2. Coven 3. Sexer 4. Bachelorette 5. Halo 6. Nobel 7. Wolvesmouth 8. Gold Blooded (Full Size) $42 ($91 value) at Sephora Gold Blooded is a new limited edition shade only included in this set with a white studded casing. In the Pink Pin Up post, the pictures show me wearing Sexer for the first time and it lasted through the day before removing after about 6 hours of wear and it was going strong. If you are interested in trying out some high end lip sticks in severa

Purple Glam Sugar Skull

Image
Dia de los Muertos or Day of the Dead is an intriguing holiday celebrated in central and southern Mexico on November 1 & 2. This is more of a cultural holiday to celebrate the memories of loved ones. Over time, sugar art became a popular decoration with various representations of honoring those who have passed. The main meaning behind a sugar skull is the celebration of life and helping to let the living know that their loved ones have found peace. They are designed to be bright and cheerful, using a minimum of 4 colors in most cases. Over the years, recreating these sugar skulls using makeup has become popular around Halloween and this is my first attempt at it. I used simple white face paint I found at a Halloween store as my base. Using a black gel eye liner, I carved out my eye sockets. I filled the sockets in with several different shades of purple shadows and a purple gel eye liner. All of the lines on my face were first drawn on with the black liner and retouched with t

Anniversary Weekend

Image
Monday was my 2 year anniversary with Nick and we went to the Eagles & Giants game. Since we started dating during homecoming weekend at West Chester, we try to avoid town each year. To start the day, we went shopping for warm clothes at Dick's and visited a tiny farm to pick pumpkins! I got super hype for the game once we started getting ready in the city where we spent the night. This included pre-gaming, layering clothes, losing an eye lash, and playing a drinking game to whatever we were watching on ESPN. Once we arrived at the game, I started taking pictures of everything!! The Lincoln Financial field is huge. Now this was my first time ever at a professional football game. I have been in several stadiums including Metlife and Georgia Dome but unlike most people, I have only been on the field and not in the stands thanks to marching band competitions in high school. There was an eagle. It felt like America exploded when there was a Garrison flag spread out in the c

Hot Pink Pin-Up

Image
Last year for Halloween, Nick and I went to a party as Jack & Coke. For the Coke costume, I went with simple pin up makeup with a barrel roll bang and curls all over. I wanted to recreate this look by using various hot pinks. Normally it is a bit taboo to wear the same color on your eyes and lips, but half the fun of makeup (especially for Halloween) is coloring outside the lines sometimes! So with this look, I am not playing by the rules and in my opinion it still looks classic and fun without being overly dramatic! Let me know what you think! Eagles Nails

Image
For the game, I thought I would share what I did with my nails! This took a long time and a few different nail polish colors but I really liked it towards the end! I hope you guys don't mind such a short post but since Nick and I are having our anniversary weekend, I wont be updating you on that until the end of this week! I still have plenty of Halloween ideas in mind that I keep mentioning, so keep an eye out for those! I started off by painting the entire nail with Covergirl's Speed of Light - 200, then taking a white nail art pen and drawing a minimum of 3 points on each nail. After letting that dry, I used a black nail art pen to create an exaggerated outline to mimic the Eagles feathers. And lastly, I used Covergirls' Teal On Fire - 55 to fill in the area from the black lines to the cuticles. Since I was trying out Covergirl's nail polish for the first time, I also picked up their top coat, Crystal Clear - 105, and so far so good. Again, a lot of sitting an

NFL Glam Makeup

Just in time for Monday night football, I bring to you the recreated looks from Covergirl. To complete them, I used a good amount of Covergirl products, however I did use a few high-end products that worked better with my skin. To celebrate our anniversary this year, Nick is taking me to the Eagles & Giants game and I am so excited. This will be my first Eagles game!! Since Covergirl has looks for each team, I figured I would do both teams I am going to be seeing on Monday! I recreated these glam looks just for fun and after trying them out man it was harder than it seems! They're not perfect, but from what I have learned over the years about symmetry, you must take notice that your eyes are sisters, not twins. You're eye liner, brows, and shadow may not match each other exactly but that's ok! So take a look at the looks below and let me know what you think!  Lets hope the Eagles win on Monday and that it's not too chilly in Philly on game night!

Jaclyn Hill Fall Favorites Tag

Image
Most of us know and l.o.v.e Jaclyn Hill and have probably already viewed the Fall Favorites Tag that she put up about a month ago. For fun, I thought I would share mine! This will be a bit of a long post with LOTS of pictures and descriptions, so hang in there!! I also listed the categories below from her video and my favorite gurus who were tagged and joined in the fun, so go and watch them too! Jaclyn Mannymua Patrickstarrr Kathleenlights   Makeup Geek   Young Wild and Polished Favorite Candles Man this makes me miss working at Bath and Body Works! Their fall collection is always amazing. Pumpkin Pecan Waffles is their best candle to date. I am talking across the board, all seasons. This is it. Now knowing that this is not the only place to get candles, I decided to also show my runner up. Cinnamon Pumpkin Muffin is from Target and about half the price. The quality in the candle shows, but going off of scent alone it smells delicious! Favorite Lip Colors For th
