Apps

Image
Over the past month I have attempted to use several applications to assist in keeping track of the enormous amount of water I am consuming each day. Counting the amount of drinks taken may not seem too hard, but when you're reminded to take a sip every so often, it helps. Now, I do have to make it clear, I do not make my goal every day. There are some days where I hit it right on the nose, and some I'm not even close. I have decided to not force the water onto my body and there is no punishment for not making the goal. To me, as long as I am trying my best, that is as hard as I need to push myself. I have made tremendous progress from drinking no water at all to drinking more than the average person before noon, so there is no need to pressure myself to drink more. Just like with food and counting calories; when you're full, you're full. Each day I start off differently, I will either infuse my water at night (strawberries are great overnight and still hold up du

Fruit Infused Water

Image
Over the past 16 days I have immersed myself into the world of flavoring plain old water to make it more enjoyable, otherwise known as Fruit Infusion. I took some of my favorite fruits that were listed on many YouTube channels to see what I would enjoy. The most recommended fruits I read up on are lemons, limes, pineapples, strawberries, and grapefruit. Personally, I despise lemons. They are tangy regardless if it is a garnish on seafood or in a dessert and I just could not be open-minded enough to try lemons in my water, I would rather just drink it plain. As much acidity I put into my diet with juices like orange juice, grapefruit juice, and pineapple juice, you would think that using any of these three in my water would be a pleasant experience. Two words. Heart. Burn. When I used the new bottle Nick's mom sent me, which I will post about later this week, I used the little fruit infusion basket for grapefruit, which made the process much simpler. I was able to have more fr

Update

Since beginning the March Madness Challenge I have started to feel better from the inside out. I have lost 5lbs and overall feel fresh. Usually after working a 7-11 hour shift in front of a computer screen for the last 5 years I would get this feeling when I thought my brain was expanding so much that it was going to crack my skull kind of headache that only a can of coke, two Excedrin Migraine pills, and a nap would cure. The afternoon and car drive home have been headache free now for the last 11 days. It's amazing what the body can accomplish with the necessary amount of water. The amount of hydration I have been providing my body is unbelievable. I have not only exceeded the average number of 8 full 8 oz. glasses of water in one day, I have doubled it by providing my body with about 14-18 8 oz. of water in one day. The amount of bathroom breaks has gone up but that also benefits a person like me that has a hard time getting up from a computer screen every couple of hours t

The Bottle!

Image
This is the water bottle I have been using that I purchased from Target right before starting my March Madness Challenge. It is an  Orla Kiely Glass Waterbottle  in green. There are plenty of designs to choose from but this one caught my eye with the earth tones. The bottle holds 20 oz, BPA-free, and is made with lead-free soda lime glass. The cap is half of the reason why I purchased this bottle, it's a leak-proof bamboo cap. Most mornings I use fresh strawberries that I've pre cut and froze the night before to infuse my water to last all day. I have been lucky enough to have a cafeteria at work that offers fresh fruit in the morning for breakfast. Knowing that, I have been able to try mixtures of pineapple, kiwi, blackberries, and mangos. It's so refreshing to add the fruit and sometimes eat some on the side. It really keeps things interesting.

Monday

Today  is the roughest of all days. I lost my car keys, which also hold my house keys. Finding my spare and asking Nick for the house key as I was rushing to make my lunch, warm up a breakfast sandwich and find a pair of shoes to match my outfit all while running late for my 20 minute commute to work was exceptionally tiring at 7AM. My day hasn't even started since I am scheduled to work 7:30AM to 6:30PM and somehow praying for overtime. In the end - as in by the time I got to my car at 7:12 - I left my sandwich in the microwave, found my spare, took Nick's house key, found a pair of bright blue flats that do not match my black dress, and somehow made it to work with 5 minutes of walking time knowing full well I was ignoring the 4 signs I passed that clearly stated 55MPH on 202. Regardless of the wonderful start to my morning, I am half way through my first bottle of water infused with pineapples and blackberries. My absolute favorite so far out of the infused combinations I

March Madness Challenge

I decided I need to make changes in my life. After reading a lot of blogs and spending hours on YouTube, I learned in order to look and feel healthier there is one thing holding me back. This thing I reach for instantly when I wake up. I consume it every day with almost every meal, and in some instances it is the only thing I drink all day. It is my perfect snack. Something I've never left a Wawa without. This crutch that I have given myself over the years is Coca-Cola. I live and breathe the white wave on the front of every bottle. I love the polar bears and own the plush versions of them in two out of the three sizes. I collect Mycokerewards from roommates, friends, family and coworkers. I can rattle off random information about the soda and the company as a whole. My dream kitchen has a retro feel with Coca-Cola accents. And the Coca-Cola Santa is the real Santa. I am an addict. I am addicted to the carbonation tickling my tongue and giving me the everlasting joy I seek in a
